Here we go my first news post as the Nintendo news guy. I've cut back on my WoW posts so i've passed on the Job of WoW news to more qualified individuals.

As has been the case recently, surfing the internet during the lulls at work I came across this list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Wii. The author appears to have just compiled information most of us have already seen, but maybe you missed something this is a good way to get updated or to give someone who knows very little about the system a quick update.

Something interesting that i didn't know before is the list of confirmed launch titles. Nintendo deffinatly put alot of thought into choosing games for launch. Pretty much having something for everyone. There are games for the younger crowd, Avatar:the last Air Bender and SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab, games for war game fans, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII and Call of Duty 3. racing games, Monster 4x4 World Circuit and Need for Speed: Carbon, and even several continuations of classic franchises, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, Rayman Raving Rabbids. and of course The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. There's even going to be a Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers.

Very useful little list giving you eveything you need to know about Wii (at least as of Aug 18).

  Wii FAQ

I'll keep you updated on future developments.

Well from what seems to be a fairly credible source, the Executive VP of EA games, come some enticing news. According to him Nintendo plans on selling the Wii for $170. He goes on to say that Nintendo's strategy, as he sees it, is to carve out a nich as gamers second console. Which is pretty engenious if you think about it. If successful this can be a MAJOR money maker. While Sony and Microsoft are battling it out for dominance Nintendo sits back and reaps rewards from fans on both sides of the battlefield.

And if the $170 rumor turns out to be true then they're perfectly placed to accomplish this lofty goal. I mean if you can shell out $600 for a ps3 (why is beyond me) then throwing down another $170 for a Wii doesn't really seem that bad.Wii

The genious of Nintendo Execs continue to amaze me (if all this is true of course  Wink ) Nintendo appears to be on it's way to take back the console world.

According to IGN, Nintendo has decided to rework the controls for the Wii version of Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess! Here's the full article:

"August 21, 2006 - Nintendo has made some major changes to the control scheme for the Wii version of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Speaking to Japan's monthly Nintendo Dream publication, producer Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that the game will now allow players to swing the controller for sword slashes.

At E3, players used the B button to swing Link's sword, with Nintendo explaining at the time that players would likely get tired having to actually swing the controller. "Upon actually playing it, it's more interesting this way," said Miyamoto to Nintendo Dream about the new control scheme.

Going along with this change, Nintendo has made modifications to the game's bow and arrow controls. In the E3 version, players aimed with the Wiimote, then actually shot out arrows using the D-pad. With the B button now free, Nintendo has moved the action to the B button. Miyamoto felt that that shooting the arrow with the D-pad was too difficult, and the B button allows for quicker and easier shooting.

It's unclear if the game will require the new control scheme or if players will be able to chose between different methods of control.

Nintendo Dream closed off by asking Miyamoto to name the version of Zelda he personally prefers. The master game maker said that he'd play the Wii version, but added that both versions will be fun.

"I can't talk about it yet, but this Zelda has a lot to it," said Miyamoto. "What you played at E3 was just the tip of the nail." Regarding Nintendo's statement at E3 that Twilight Princess would be the best Zelda in history, he said, "Yes. It's coming along quite nicely."

With Twilight Princess due out at launch, GameCube and Wii owners will get to fully explore the potentially greatest Zelda game ever in just a few months. Stay tuned for more!"

Don't worry, this won't delay the game...
